Chema Madoz
Chema Madoz is very well known for his surrealist photography, I have always been a fan of the quirky and abstract things in life so when I saw his work I knew I had to write about him. When thinking about what to do for my final project I knew I wanted to do more portrait photography because the model I used truly portrayed the mood and aesthetic I was going for. Madoz uses more objects than people for his photographs, which I feel is evidence of his talent because not every object can be manipulated.
This first photograph is my favorite! It left me speechless and I now have a mission for the summer to photograph objects in ways that you would not think of photographing them. I used to do this when I got my first camera at 12 years old and have no idea why I stopped. But as you can see, the photograph below is absolutely breathtaking.
The photograph below is the same theme as the one above. It reminds me of a drawing I once saw of a woman with a cage for ribs and instead of a cloud, there was a little bird inside the cage. The message that the drawing portrayed is similar to the message I feel this photograph has. Which is that sometimes your voice or thoughts feel unheard or you are unable to speak your mind.Lastly, the photograph below made me smile when I first saw it. My Mimi just recently passed away and she was obsessed with sewing so when I saw this it made me think of her. Who knew you could do so much with clouds, well except for Madoz. All of the photographs from this collection are so simple yet speak so much. It's like when we were kids and used to look at clouds and name what they looked like.
